The Clue Society
The Clue Society is an independent brand creating downloadable murder mystery dinner party experiences that players can host from home. Built around an anonymous collective of mystery enthusiasts, the website introduces visitors to the brand, showcases upcoming cases, and encourages users to join the waitlist ahead of launch.
Squarespace Development & SEO
My role was to transform the approved design into a fully functional Squarespace website while preserving the atmosphere and storytelling that define the brand. The implementation focused on creating a seamless browsing experience across desktop and mobile devices, ensuring every section maintained the dramatic, editorial style of the original concept.
The homepage guides visitors through the product with a narrative structure, introducing the first mystery, explaining how the experience works, highlighting the catalogue, and reinforcing the brand's identity through testimonials and carefully crafted copy. My responsibility was to build these sections accurately, paying close attention to spacing, typography, responsive layouts, and overall consistency.
Beyond the front-end implementation, I optimized the website for search engines by configuring on-page SEO across the site. This included optimizing page titles and meta descriptions, improving heading hierarchy, adding descriptive image alt text, generating and submitting the sitemap, and connecting the website with Google Search Console to support indexing and long-term visibility. Because the site is content-driven, performance and usability were equally important. Images and assets were optimized where appropriate, layouts were tested across multiple screen sizes, and navigation was refined to provide a smooth experience for visitors discovering the brand for the first time. This project strengthened my experience delivering production-ready Squarespace websites that combine strong visual presentation with solid technical implementation. It also reinforced the importance of building websites that not only look polished but are responsive, accessible, and prepared for organic search from day one.
